POKER RUN AND SCAVENGER HUNT AT THE COW PONY

The poker run was pretty standard with all the usual spots but the scavenger hunt was something to write home about. Everything on the list was small enough to fit in the manila envelope they gave us. So in addition to the bars, in was pretty funny to see bikers in parks crawling around on the ground looking for feathers, pine cones, barrel cactus needles, stick on tattoos and rolling papers at convenience stores, bartenders signatures and beer caps. The hardest one was coming up with a joke but some non-participants at one of the bars helped me out. There were a few more items on the list but a lady who talked her sister into giving her a photo of her tits and actually went out and got a tattoo won. The rest of us just and a great time, as you can see here.

One of the first guests we will have on our show was Mike Jones, who I met in Sturgis almost 20 years ago. I still have the CD Mike gave me and my sons grew up listening to it. His tunes like Yesterday 1903 and Milwaukee Vibrator struck a chord and resonated then and while I was going through my CDs looking for biker oriented tunes to play on my upcoming shows, I found Mike's "Yesterday 1903" and started listening to it again as I ripped it to my computer. I even did a search for him on Google wondering what had become of him after so much time had passed. I was disappointed when the only Mike Jones that showed up was a black rapper. So I put that on the back burner while I was working on this site. This morning my phone rang and a voice from out of a distant past said, "Is this Clay Douglas?" It was Mike Jones calling. Coincidence? Synchronicity? Fate? What ever the source, it is your and my lucky day. You will love his music.

Mike has come a long way. He has another album and a movie and his own production company up in Phoenix. He gave me credit for writing one of the best articles on him and his music in my old Riders Xchange magazine back in Florida. Now I am pleased to be able to start promoting him and introducing him to the biker world he has had such an impact on.I will help him as much as possible in his movie making, performing career. The biker bar that asks the question 'Who's really bashful at the Bandit?' has been around since 1943. Bikers from all over Southern Arizona flock to this juke joint to exhibit their rides, nicely displayed in the front parking lot. Drink specials as well as live music Fridays and Saturdays are a big attraction for those 'not quite' into leather and bikes.
